Antigone, a brave and proud young woman, defies Creon, King of Thebes, when she buries the body of her beloved brother who had led a rebellion against the city.
She is brought forward to face her judgement with unshakeable courage in the face of tyranny. Sophocles’ Antigone is a story of tragic beauty, pride and power.
This classic tragedy explores the conflict between fate and destiny on one hand and free will on the other. Which will dominate in the end?
Today the MP Michelle Rempel of the Progressive Conservative Party came to our office to talk to us about what it is we do in our community. A real live politican! I’ve never met one before. She was very lovely and friendly and seemed quite interested in what we do. I was surprised because she seemed so real, so down to earth. It was good to see a politician interested in the arts and youth programming because you hear so much about them being disinterested. Michelle wasn’t like that at all. It was encouraging to hear her say she was going to “brag us up” and “create some buzz” around our company and that we have “a good story”. That is what we need. We need some publicity. But also she had her fancy photographer guy with her and he took a lot of pictures and I got to stand beside Michelle in the group photo so I feel quite honoured. It was an exciting way to start a Monday morning for sure.
CYPT is making waves, baby!
